Nowadays, it is familiar to use technology to look for tools and platforms that can help us learn different or specific subjects, we look for apps that can be added on our phone and use anytime, and anywhere. one od these applications for learning is Memrise.
Description
Memrise is an online learning tool, it uses mnemonic techniques and flashcards to help you learn a language quickly, have more than 50 million people learning languages, provides thousands of courses including science, and philosophy. Memrise was founded by Ed Cooke, Ben Whately and Greg Detre. This app offers learning through audio and video lessons, in addition to making learning vocab fun, it provide millions of words, it also teaches real life phrases. It is the opposite of textbooks learning , learning with Memrise can be enjoyable and effective.
Design
Memrise design is colourful, easy to use, has about 40 unique Memrise designs, illustrations, and graphic elements. it include labelling of navigation icons, it has a review section offers difficult words, classic review and speed review icon categories. users can mark difficult words with the flags icon provided and they save in the difficult words page, and many more amazing features. One of its limitation that the search feature is not great. You need to come out of the course then go back to home to find a new one.
Educational value
This app allows us to learn several languages concurrently for different levels on diverse topic, bit it is not a comprehensive language course, it won't teach you grammar, speaking, or other essential language skills, it can only help learning a lot of new words.
Conclusion
Memrise app is a very nice, organized, easy to use app for who is seeking to learn a new language it provide many words in different fields and topics, but it is not a comprehensive language course.
